Dr. Ray. This information in spot on. I am a 70 year old grandmother who has raised my now15 year old granddaughter up until age 13. Her aunt took custody against my better judgment. I am being evaluated and criticized by attorneys, counsellors, Gardian ad litem, and the court system because I "talked to my granddaughter about death, mortality, and what our faith teaches us about our eternity." As part of my discussions with my 13 year old granddaughter, I asked my GD who her preference would be to take custody should I become unable to care for her, reassuring her that only God decides when life begins and ends for all of us. I was told that this was emotional abuse by secular "experts." So, I have not been allowed to have contact with my GD since November 2022. God only knows the grief that I suffer for the loss of my child.
I know that God works all things together for good for us who are faithful to him. He is my comfort. I am specifically asking if death is an age appropriate discussion? I do not think that we talk enough to our teens about death, and that includes prolife discussions.

A similar event happened to me when attended a Good Friday Service at a non-denominational church. I was there to support a kid we took in to help who happened to date the pastor’s daughter. Two who preached that day started their talk with bad mouthing Catholics or being brought up Catholic but no more”thankfully” they implied.
The Holy Spirit must have taken over me that day because I felt very different energy and drive to approach them but I was not as brave. I cried while listening knowing this is nothing the the work of the devil. I prayed that God would help me make it where I can approach them charitably.
As soon as the singing ended an elderly woman ran to me and apologized, she turned out to be the pastor’s mom but even better she asked me if I want to have her son say something but I choose to approach them myself.
I asked each of the about their specific complaint and at the end I asked them” did your allegations bring Jesus glory or did it nail him to the cross? And they both said we nailed him to the cross”
I also advised them to study the church more. As servants of God it is important to work on building his kingdom rather than tearing it with ignorance and lack of humility.
Well I know now that I was not there by accident!

"There comes a moment when children who have been playing at burglars hush suddenly , was that a real footstep in the hall?
Good advice. It's almost better to say as little as possible. It's very easy to get caught up in put downs and criticisms people make about each other too, or even worse that we make about others ourselves. Jesus said something to the effect to just say 'yes' or 'no'. It means breaking that judgemental habit.
